This article is not a marketing presentation of Imagino. It's technical field feedback on what it actually involves to deploy the platform at a client site: connectors, data model, integrations with existing systems, and watch points you don't see in commercial demos.

My involvement is primarily on the technical and integration side, not on CDP strategy or marketing campaign configuration. That's the angle of this article.

What Imagino is in a nutshell

Imagino is a French Customer Data Platform (CDP), founded in 2015, positioned in the mid-market to enterprise segment. The platform combines multichannel data collection, customer profile unification, segmentation and marketing activation (email, SMS, push, advertising).

What differentiates it from the major American players (Salesforce Data Cloud, Adobe Real-Time CDP): strong customer support, more accessible implementation, and product responsiveness that better fits French enterprise decision cycles.

💡 Context: Imagino is not a tool you deploy alone in a few days. It's a project involving data, marketing and IT teams, and requires genuine data modelling work upfront.

Imagino's technical architecture

The data model

The core of Imagino is its unified customer profile data model. The platform ingests data from multiple sources and reconciles them around a unique identifier, what's known as identity resolution.

Technically, this means that before deploying anything, you need to define:

This is often the longest phase of the project, and the most structuring one. A poorly defined model upfront generates data quality problems for months.

Ingestion connectors

Imagino offers several data ingestion modes:

In practice, most projects I've seen combine file import for historical CRM data and API for real-time events.

Integration with existing systems

This is often the most complex part. Imagino doesn't replace your CRM or email tool, it connects to them. Integration questions to settle:

What works well

Field watch points

Input data quality

A CDP doesn't improve your data quality, it amplifies it. If your CRM data is poorly structured, with duplicates and inconsistent fields, Imagino will unify this imperfect data and produce imperfect profiles. Data cleansing upfront is not optional.

Import volume and frequency

Batch file imports can be slow on large volumes. If you have several million rows to ingest daily, anticipate processing windows and test performance before Go-live. I've seen projects underestimate this and end up with D-1 data in a platform supposed to be near real-time.

Identity governance

Identity resolution is a powerful feature but requires clear, tested rules. An anonymous web visitor who logs in later, a customer who changes their email, a professional and personal account for the same person, every edge case must be defined before go-live.

GDPR and consents

Imagino is designed to handle consents, but configuration must be done correctly. Ensure that consent flows between your CMP (Consent Management Platform), your site and Imagino are end-to-end tested before Go-live.

⚠️ Watch point: setting up Imagino is a project in its own right, not a quick integration. Plan for a minimum of 2 to 3 months for a complete deployment with quality data. Projects that start too fast often end up revisiting shaky foundations.

Conclusion

Imagino is a serious, well-designed and well-supported platform. It's particularly suited to French companies looking for a CDP without the complexity and costs of American solutions, and who need proximity support.

The success of an Imagino deployment relies above all on the quality of upfront data modelling, data governance and business team involvement. The technology, once properly configured, does its job.
